SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Spokesperson Jotiar Adil said on Wednesday (June 30) that the KRG rejects an assertion by an Iraqi militia leader that the US warplanes that conducted airstrikes targeting Iran-backed groups took off from Erbil.
Adil attributed the allegation to Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS) commander Ahmed al-Maksusi and said that it was baseless.
He went further, blaming a recent drone attack on a property near Pirmam, north of Erbil city, on “outlaw groups” and warned against further such provocations.
On Monday, the US made an overnight air strikes against Iran-backed armed groups on the Syrian-Iraqi border that killed at least seven fighters.
