SULAIMANI —on Tuesday (June 29) elevated the status of Bazian and Hajiawa sub-districts to that of full districts.
Twenty-six out of 32 members of the Council supported changing the administrative status of Bazian, while the vote for Hajiawa was unanimous.
Bazian is located just to the west of Sulaimani city and is home to numerous industrial sites.
Mostly rural, Hajiawa is in the Raparin administration, northwest of Ranya.
