Higher voter turnout after 2 pm for Kurdistan parliamentary election

SULAIMANI – More people have been seen turning out at polling stations across the Kurdistan Region after 2 pm to vote during parliamentary election.

The voter turnout is expected to rise in the hours before 6 pm, NRT reporters at polling stations said.

The Kurdistan elections commission reiterated on Sunday (September 30) that the “Polling stations will be closed by 6 pm, no extension.”

According to reports fewer eligible voters went to polling stations in the early hours of the day, compared with the last two hours.

Polling stations opened at 8 a.m. on Sunday (September 30) and voting will continue until 6 p.m.

The Independent High Elections and Referendum Commission (IHRC) said that 3,085,461 people have the right to vote in the election.
