SULAIMANI — Iraq’s Ministry of Agriculture said on Thursday (June 24) that a ban on the sale of poultry and produce from the Kurdistan Region in central and southern Iraq has been lifted.
In place since May, the ban was designed to prevent cheaper goods being imported from abroad and passing through the Region from undercutting locally produced chicken, fruit, and vegetables, it said.
The measure had caused a great deal of frustration for local farmers in the Kurdistan Region who were caught in the middle of the government and importers.
