SULAIMANI — Members of the Kurdish diaspora in Austria and Germany protested Turkey’s airstrikes that hit Sinjar and Makhmour on Thursday night (December 13).
Protesters gathered in Hewitt Platz in Austria's second-largest city Graz last night to call attention to Turkish airstrikes that struck Sinjar district and a refugee camp in Makhmour in the Kurdistan Region.
Another demonstration was held in the German capital Berlin, where participants demanded an end to Turkish airstrikes.
On Thursday night (December 13), Turkish warplanes bombed Gir Ozer and Gali Shlu in Sinjar, Qarachukh mountain, and refugee camps in Makhmour, which killed four people. There are conflicting reports whether the deceased were members of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) or civilians.
A source in Makhmour told NRT Digital Media that warplanes had been spotted circling the area since Wednesday.
“Our air force has bombed Shingal and Qarachukh Mountain in order to protect our borders,” the Turkish defense ministry said in a statement after the strikes.
